Twitch streamer Asmongold recently expressed his desire for a Final Fantasy XIV animated series, noting that the franchise has previously had success with the medium.

Asmongold has resumed his Twitch streaming, which means his adventures in Eorzea have resumed. He was streaming on his secondary channel, zackrawrr, when he expressed his desire for Square Enix to expand the FFXIV universe beyond the MMO.

With the success of Riot Games’ new League of Legends-based animated show, Arcane, gamers have been thinking about how other big franchises, such as Final Fantasy, could benefit from a similar styled show.

Since starting to stream Final Fantasy XIV on July 4, Asmongold has developed a fondness for the game and its story. He now wants to see that story expanded across multiple platforms. Square Enix should make an animated series, he wishes. A chatterer was surprised to learn that Asmongold was a fan of the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Asmongold believes that the success of FFXIV could lead to a show based on the story of Eorzea, given Final Fantasy’s track record of popular movies like Advent Children. With the Endwalker expansion only a few weeks away, there will be four different expansions worth of story to work with for a possible animated series, not to mention the base game story.

Square Enix should hopefully take a page from Riot Games’ Arcane and deliver the show that Final Fantasy fans have been waiting for.
