Asmongold recently showed his activity feed being flooded with Twitch Prime subscriptions, giving his audience a glimpse into his side of the stream.
Twitch Prime is without a doubt one of Twitch’s most effective tools for promoting the website as the world’s leading streaming platform. Users who have Amazon Prime can link their Twitch accounts to get a free subscription to any partnered or affiliate content creator. Naturally, streamers of all sizes strive to earn their viewers’ Twitch Primes on a regular basis.
Asmongold is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, and his coverage of the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp trial has garnered him unprecedented attention and viewership. McConnell, a longtime streaming partner of Asmongold, reminded viewers to use their Twitch Primes on the veteran MMORPG streamer just minutes before the start of the day’s court proceedings.
Given the recent increase in viewership, Asmongold was skeptical that McConnell’s attempt would result in any Twitch Primes.
When a flurry of new subscribers overtook his chat, he was immediately silenced.
Asmongold then displayed his activity feed on the screen, which revealed hundreds of Twitch Primes being used at breakneck speed on his account. Asmongold claimed that the massive influx of subscriptions was slowing down his chat speed because he couldn’t read the names of everyone who had signed up.
Given that Twitch partners get about half of the $5.00 subscription, Asmongold was able to clear several hundred dollars in a matter of seconds thanks to McConnell’s reminder.
Though Asmongold’s coverage of the public trial has been divisive, it has benefited the Twitch partner’s channel and viewership significantly.
