The party meta in Final Fantasy XIV is being thrown out the window, and eight Paladins are being sent into Diamond Weapon.
The Unending Journey streaming event from earlier this year paid off with a limited-edition glamour that you can get right now. On October 28th, the EU community team will broadcast more goodies in the form of physical giveaways as well as an entertaining challenge that will throw the meta out the window.
The final Trial of the Shadowbringers era is Diamond Weapon—yes, that Diamond Weapon from Final Fantasy 7. Diamond is fought with an eight-man crew and a standard party composition of two tanks, two healers, and four DPS, as in previous encounters. You can always edit those requirements in premade groups, and some people prefer it because it allows them to replace tanks or healers with more DPS, but Square Enix is making things a little more difficult by only bringing eight Paladins in.
Paladins have their own self-heal, but eight tanks trying to figure out who’s doing what is bound to get a little chaotic. While the fight gets out of hand, the Square Enix team plans to go over everything you can expect from Endwalker, which will be released on November 19th.
During the stream, Square Enix will be giving away prizes, including a chance to win your very own, very small Alphinaud or Alisaie. The adorable mini minions are just one of the Taito prizes, which also include a Fat Cat lamp, Namazu moving figure, and Major-General plush. The English October 28 events begin at 10 a.m. PDT on Final Fantasy 14’s official Twitch, and the Lodestone has a preview of all the real-life physical prizes.
Final Fantasy 14’s packed schedule of events continues, and it’s no surprise now that director and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed it’s the series’ most profitable game. Perhaps this means more good news is on the way, as recent media tour beats have also mentioned Final Fantasy 14 coming to Xbox owners.
Next month, on November 19th, the Endwalker expansion will launch. Square is releasing more and more game-related tweaks and updates ahead of the patch as it prepares for the final battle in a ten-year story arc.
