Ibai Llanos Garatea, better known online as Ibai, a popular Spanish streamer, has earned what appears to be a 24-hour ban from Twitch after unknowingly infringing Twitch’s nudity terms of service guidelines. The ban is related to a time when Ibai was browsing Twitter live, and the offending image was found among the comments to one of his own tweets.
In 2021, Ibai became one of the most popular non-English speaking broadcasters, with close to 6 million followers. On his stream this year, he has even interacted with world-famous footballers such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Andres Iniesta.
His channel, however, was banned earlier on September 28th. Although Ibai has yet to respond to the ban, it is believed that it is the result of him accidently posting sexual pictures on his Twitter stream while browsing.
Ibai has been banned four times in the last two years, the longest of which lasted three days. Repeated bans will usually result in longer suspensions, however Twitch claims that context is always taken into account in each situation. Ibai’s previous ban, which occurred on June 16th, was similarly the result of a nudity slip-up after a streamer disclosed themself.
The length of Ibai’s newest suspension has not been verified, although comparable infringements often result in penalties ranging from 24 hours to one week on Twitch.
