Esports org 100 Thieves has stated that they will be returning to the competitive Apex Legends competition, and they have already formed a squad.

Apex Legends has witnessed a boom in popularity on Twitch in recent months, with players transferring from Warzone and other games. The popularity of Respawn’s sci-fi battle royale has grown and 100 Thieves have re-entered the game’s esports arena, announcing the acquisition of three players to their new team on October 8.

The Thieves have signed Alex Curry’ Scala, Brendan ‘Onmuu’ Pode, and Nicholas ‘Vein’ Hobbs as a trio of Apex pros for their new-look roster

When Apex Legends originally came out, 100 Thieves fielded a professional Apex team, but the organization disbanded the team in August of 2019 and took a break from the scene. They blamed “uncertainty” regarding Apex’s future as an esport at the time, but those doubts appear to have been allayed today.

In the announcement video, 100T founder and CEO Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag remarked, “Apex Legends has now solidified itself, in my mind, as an IP that will be around for the next decade — if handled properly. “This is a team we know can perform at the highest level consistently, and we’re hoping we can give them the support they need to win even more in the future.”

We don’t know when the newly formed 100 Thieves Apex Legends team will begin participating, but they’ll most likely join the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) alongside other top-tier North American esports teams. Apex hasn’t had the same esports success as titles like Overwatch, CS:GO, LoL, and others, but if this news from 100 Thieves is any indication, more orgs will be following suit shortly.
