Popular Twitch streamer xQc abruptly ended his Twitch stream after inadvertently doxxing himself by ‘leaking’ his IP address, exposing himself to potential threats from tech-savvy viewers with malicious intent.
When he tried to access a casino website, he received an ‘Error 502: Bad gateway’ message, which displayed his IP address on his screen.
xQc announced on Twitter that he will stream offline for the rest of the day, claiming that the IP was accidentally leaked. It’s not the first time xQc has had doxxing issues. It is, however, the first time it was his fault. Everything from tracking his location to hacking his PC and router was among the dangers he could have faced.
Naturally, these are all serious concerns, especially for someone whose location has been traced several times and whose livelihood depends on his hardware and network not being compromised. As a result, the Twitch star decided to call it a day and search for a solution for the rest of the day.
However, he confirmed that he would be back on Twitch on June 14 as usual.
