Twitch streamers xQc and Pokelawls left the game in the platform fighter MultiVersus thanks to a nail-biting edge-guard combo.
The most recent fighting game from Warner Brothers is called MultiVersus, and it has a cast that includes figures from DC Comics, Cartoon Network, and even HBO shows like Game of Thrones.
MultiVersus, which is still in its open beta stage, has already broken records as one of the most well-received releases in fighting game history, it has maintained over 100,000 active daily players since its launch, far exceeding any of its rivals.
The platform fighter has also gained a ton of popularity on the livestreaming website Twitch, where it has amassed more than 15 million hours of viewing time and 25,000 daily viewers in its remarkably brief time there, according to Streams Charts.
XQc, has devoted a large portion of his stream time to the new fighting game. The two demonstrated their edge-guard skills as Iron Giant and Jake the Dog in a game with fellow streamer Pokelawls. xQc’s projectile, their combined, simultaneous downward attacks, and pushing their opponents off the edge of the Sky Arena map prevented their opponents from recovering.
The Twitch duo won the game despite having a two-to-one ring-out advantage, sending the streamers into a frenzy of celebration. Poke immediately called to replay their game-winning move because they couldn’t believe their own ability.
With some of the biggest streamers piqueing viewers’ interest with highlight-reel plays, MultiVersus has taken over Twitch. It is unlikely that the game will lose popularity among Twitch streamers anytime soon given that the game’s competitive debut is scheduled to take place at Evo 2022.
