After months of nerf requests, Warzone players are still dealing with the overpowered Bren LMG, and some are venting their frustrations.
It’s understandable that balancing has taken a back seat in Call of Duty: Warzone, given the game’s recent bugs and technical issues. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the Bren having a long reign of terror, and some Call of Duty: Warzone fans are taking to social media to express their displeasure.
The Bren has proven to be a huge hit among Call of Duty: Warzone players, as the right loadout makes it the best long-range weapon in the game. The Bren is not only accurate and has low damage fall-off at the range, but it also has the typical large magazines of the LMG class.
This means it can kill enemies with just a few shots, even if they are far away, tearing through armor with ease, and being one of the most commonly used weapons in battle royale games.
It would be strange if players began talking about the weapon more for no reason now that Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has launched. Unfortunately, the most recent update for Call of Duty: Warzone is to blame for the increase in complaints, as many players were hoping for the Bren to be nerfed at long last. While the patch addressed a recent, unintended buff to the PPSh-41 SMG, the Bren remains unchanged, as Redditors such as JustLawlyOnTwitch have pointed out.
Another tweet, this time from Twitch streamer @iamExpel, joked that the Bren would be the dominant character until Season 3. While fans can hope that Raven Software will give the weapon a much-needed nerf before the start of the third season, which is still a few weeks away, the joke may be more accurate than not. After all, the Bren has dominated since Season 1 and has never been challenged. With so much time passing and no change, it’s impossible to predict when a nerf will be implemented.
For the time being, it appears that Call of Duty: Warzone’s meta will continue to revolve around the Bren LMG, with ranged players having a clear best option.
While having some sort of meta makes sense in a game like Call of Duty: Warzone that is constantly evolving, players usually prefer to see new guns get some attention every few weeks. The game becomes stale when a gun like the Bren decimates the competition for months on end, despite the fact that there are dozens of weapons available.
All the Call of Duty: Warzone community can do now is keep on requesting Bren nerfs and hoping Raven Software follows through. While the developer has a lot on his plate with Call of Duty: Warzone’s ranked play and a full-fledged sequel in the works, it’s clear that the fan base is sick of this weapon.
