Addison Rae launching a new blue light skincare line months after the controversy surrounding her own, similar products has YouTube star Valkyrae “shocked.”
Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter previously went viral after launching a skincare line to protect the skin from the allegedly harmful effects of blue light emitted by computers, phones, and other devices.
Despite the products’ bold claims, Valkyrae’s skincare venture quickly came under fire, with critics pointing out that there is little conclusive evidence that blue light is harmful.
The project was eventually shut down by Rae. Her RFLCT line was taken down from ULTA’s online store, and the company’s official website was relegated to the Shadow Realm.
Addison Rae, a TikTok star, launched a hauntingly similar product line within her already-existing Item Beauty line a few months later. The news sparked outrage almost immediately, recalling the drama surrounding RFLCT in October 2021.
Valkyrae first responded to the news on Twitter, saying she “wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same company” and even joking about rebranding to “just Valky.”
She went on to say that she was “shocked” by the reveal and wanted to reach out to Addison Rae to offer her support amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her latest skincare venture in a live stream the next day.
Rae also admitted that her agent had warned her not to say anything about the line because she still risks being sued for breaching her RFLCT contract.
Addison has remained silent on the subject so far, most likely because she’s busy gathering unique inspiration for her next big acting project.
