Twitch star Felix “xQc” took part in the latest Twitch Rivals event, which featured From Software’s critically acclaimed title Elden Ring.
On June 2, the French-Canadian sensation teamed up with Swedish streamer Mendo for the Twitch Rivals 2 vs. 2 Elden Ring challenge.
Things were going swimmingly until Felix was pitted against a player and was killed in an unusual manner. His defeat was a contentious moment in the tournament, and he ended up streaming the game shortly after.
On June 2, the former Overwatch pro was invited to compete in Twitch Rivals. xQc went head-to-head with a VTuber known as girl dm_ at the four-hour mark of his stream.
Felix used an in-game item called Flask of Wondrous Physick during the duel, which significantly increased his defenses. The VTuber called him out on his behavior and demanded a fair match.
Girl dm_ was given one free hit on the Twitch streamer by the event organizers, but she charged up her attack and attacked him twice in a row. The 26-year-old gamer was killed in a series of attacks. This did not sit well with xQc. He was having none of it when girl dm_ tried to defend herself. He persisted in his argument with her.
Felix announced his withdrawal from the event ten minutes after the contentious match began. Twitch Rivals channel moderators began sending him messages from fans.
He turned off the stream and started playing Minecraft.
Multiple reaction threads focusing on xQc’s controversial moments during Twitch Rivals were present on r/LivestreamFail, as expected. Fans were disappointed with how things ended.
According to some fans, the streamer and his partner lost the tournament but did not give up. Fans began to suggest that the streamer’s performance would improve if Twitch Rivals began hosting gambling tournaments.
xQc is the second-most subscribed (95,821) Twitch streamer, making him one of the platform’s most popular content creators. He started streaming on the purple platform in 2016 and now has over 10 million subscribers.
