TrueGameData, a warzone expert, explains why the PPSh, despite being nerfed from its overpowered state, could still find its way into the Season 2 meta.

The PPSh received a secret buff at the start of Season 2 that made it one of the most powerful guns in Warzone history. This was caused by a bug that gave the SMG higher damage values than intended, according to the developers.

The buff was removed in a Warzone patch on February 24th, but Raven still made the gun better than it was before. TrueGameData demonstrates why it is still viable on Caldera. The PPSh was extremely powerful, but when the developers fixed it, they also gave it a damage boost over its previous state.

TrueGameData goes over the three stages this gun went through and how it compares now in a YouTube video. These are the “Old Old,” “OP,” and “Current” versions. When comparing the current version to the original, the gun lost about 7-10 damage at close range, but kept most of its damage at medium range.

However, as the graph below shows, it still compares favorably to its ‘Old Old’ counterpart and the PPSh in its live state takes damage at close and medium ranges. This is the primary reason he claims the gun is still suitable for use in Warzone.

Following all of the nerfs, TGD believes that the Welgun will dominate Season 2. He does, however, believe that the PPSh is a good and viable option. It shouldn’t hurt you too much if you spent time leveling it up and want to use the SMG.
