After nerfs rendered the newly-added Vanguard assault rifle “unusable,” players are pleading with Raven to buff the Automaton in Warzone Pacific Season One.

After months of anticipation and fan excitement, Warzone Pacific Season One was finally released on December 8. Among other things, the update added all of CoD: Vanguard’s multiplayer weapons to Warzone, as well as the Caldera map and gameplay changes.

The Automaton was one of the first frontrunners in the meta while it was still sorting itself out. Although the Vanguard AR only does moderate damage, it quickly became a fan favorite due to its lack of recoil and incredibly fast fire rate.

Unfortunately, Raven’s upper management decided it was too powerful and quickly nerfed it. There’s a lot of emphasis on the word ‘hefty’ there.

Below is a comparison of the Automaton’s new recoil to that of other Warzone weapons, courtesy of YouTuber TheXclusiveAce.

Many players have deemed the weapon “unusable” due to its extreme recoil, and have petitioned Raven for a quick buff. While it is widely acknowledged that the weapon’s pre-nerf recoil was insufficient, players did not intend for the weapon to be completely uncontrollable.

Other players chimed in, claiming that Raven’s nerf was excessive and that a counter-buff would be beneficial.

The nerf did, without a doubt, weaken the Vanguard AR, but it also drove players to use pretty much anything else in its place.

Raven, hopefully, will be able to find a happy medium.
