While we all wait for GTA 6, one Twitch streamer kills time by completing Rockstar’s open-world crime simulator San Andreas in under 12 hours.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a massive game. Even when compared to GTA Online, which is still receiving updates and add-ons after nearly ten years, Rockstar’s first trip to Los Santos is sprawling and vast, w ith hidden missions, secret jumps, and a plethora of collectibles such as horseshoes and graffiti tags.

Twitch streamer Crucial1357 has beaten the entire game in a new-record time of 11 hours, 25 minutes and 21 seconds, nearly an hour faster than the previous official record (12 hours and eight minutes) and faster than his own personal best time of 11 hours, 40 minutes.

To put that into perspective, achieving 100 percent in GTA: San Andreas necessitates completing all story missions; all asset missions such as the quarry, courier service, and those dreadful ones with the remote-controlled planes; winning all street races; passing all vehicle schools and challenges; reaching the top level in all emergency services missions; delivering all the cars to the export dock; getting the highest scores at the gun ranges; purchasing all the houses, and so on.

Of course, there are shortcuts. For example, any good San Andreas speedrunner knows that if you blow up Ryder’s car at the start of the second mission, you can immediately restart it and skip the lengthy dialogue about CJ’s haircut outside Reece’s barbershop, saving you about 20 seconds. There’s also a method that involves an extremely complex series of glitches and code manipulations that allows you to complete the game in under 15 minutes – and if you think that’s impressive, a similar trick can be used to beat GTA: Vice City in an incredible eight minutes.

Crucial1357 has taken the long route and set a record that will take months, if not years, to beat. The entire run has now been uploaded to their YouTube channel if you want to see it for yourself.
