When Zalae was ten-years-old, he started playing chess and played it competitively until he was eighteen-years-old. As a teenager, he started playing WoW and paper Magic: The Gathering (MTG).

In 2011, he started participating in MTG Online tournaments, which lead to his winning the MTGO Constructed Player of the Year award in 2014. In April 2021, he was suspended from competing in Hearthstone.
