If Epic Games doesn’t cater to those players who have returned due to a lack of building, Tyler ‘Ninja‘ Blevins, a streaming giant, believes Fortnite will go back to square one and lose all interest.
Due to Epic Games’ Chapter 3, Season 2 update, which was released on March 20, Fortnite has seen a resurgence in popularity, with players flocking back to the battle royale.
The main reason for this is that the Fortnite creators decided to remove the game’s most recognizable feature – building. Now, you don’t have to worry about someone winning a gunfight because they’re a better architect than you if you join a regular match.
While the mechanic is still present in competitive and creative modes, there has been talk of building being removed entirely from the standard Battle Royale mode – something Ninja believes the developers should consider.
The Twitch star, who has been playing the battle royale almost exclusively since the update, praised the developers for putting the game in a “phenomenal spot,” but all of that could change quickly.
When the mechanic was first removed, Fortnite data miners and leakers predicted that it would reappear nine days after the update, or on March 29th.
It remains to be seen whether Epic will pursue bringing building back, or if they will finally implement a permanent no-building mode, as players have long requested.
