Twitch streamer and a popular American rapper Soulja Boy whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, believes that he is the reason why Twitch has become so popular claiming that he made it cool to play games in from of his viewers back in 2017 when twitch was in its early years and its name is still Justin.tv.
Twitch is without a doubt becoming even more successful as the time goes by. Twitch has witnessed many streaming stars including Pokimane, Shroud, and Ninja rise into stardom and become well-known modern-day superstars in their own right. And others such as Valkyrae and TimTheTatman have used their success on the Amazon-owned website to negotiate multi-million dollar deals.
Back in 2007, Twitch used to be known as Justin.tv. The founders of that site, as well as Amazon and Curse, are likely to have a strong case. Then there are the streamers, who are the ones who bring in the crowds. However, one man believes he understands why and that is the popular American Rapper and a Twitch streamer Soulja Boy who recently claimed to be one of the main reasons Twitch has grown into popularity.
During his recent stream, he stated; “I was the first rapper on Twitch, back when it used to be called Justin.tv. I’m the one that made it cool for you to be playing Xbox [and] games on Twitch. Subscribers, going live. I did that. That was all me bro. You know what I’m saying? Everything… I did it!”
Soulja Boy began streaming on Twitch in mid-2020 and hit his most dedicated months of broadcasting at the end of last year. He had been involved in the platform before that, but only in short spurts every few months.
Whether or not Soulja Boy is solely responsible for Twitch’s success, there’s no doubt the streaming platform has grown in popularity. And there is no denying that Soulja Boy is a popular figure.
Twitch boasts between 70,000 and 100,000 live channels, raking in more than two million concurrent viewers. Last month, more than eight million unique broadcasters streamed live, and TwitchTracker estimates that fans watched more than 1066 billion minutes of Twitch video this year.
