Ex CS:GO Professional player turned full-time Twitch Streamer Michael Grzesiek AKA Shroud recently explained why crossplay in Apex Legends and other video games will never be right and perfect for competitive play.

A few years ago, the idea of Playstation, PC, and Xbox in the same lobby would have attracted nothing but confused faces. Different video games are now incorporating crossplay into their multiplayer modes including Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends.

The incorporation naturally sparked debate and reignited the controller vs mouse, keyboard discussion.

Popular Twitch streamer Shroud believes otherwise saying that it is the crux of the problem and that the main reason why crossplay will never be balanced despite it being the future of video games. According to him, it sucks knowing that the aim assist will be removed, and then the controller “sucks”. He said that the controller’s too strong when you have to aim to assist and added that there’s no perfect balance and that it will never be fixed because there’s no actually to fix.

Shroud elaborated last July 31st that the lack of balance means crossplay should be avoided in professional events and he specifically mentioned that the Global Series of Apex Legends and its team seems to have at least one controller player to be in with a chance of winning.

He said that it should let it exist in casual play all day and not mix in a professional environment.

Despite his concern, more esports are now implementing crossplay allowing competitors to compete together on all platforms and because of that evolution, it doesn’t mean that the controller vs. MnK debate will stop or slow down anytime soon.
