Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane recently spoke out against influencers who deceive audiences about cosmetic procedures in order to push unrealistic beauty standards onto their followers.
Pokimane is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, with over 9 million followers and thousands of concurrent viewers watching each broadcast. The Canadian streamer has often spoken about the responsibilities of hosting such a significant platform as one of the most prominent content creators on Twitch.
Pokimane chastised influencers who are dishonest about getting cosmetic surgery and instead pass it off as natural or the result of hard work and exercise in a recent tweet on her secondary Twitter account.
Pokimane’s response was largely praised, though there was some debate in the comments section about whether it is an influencer’s responsibility to disclose cosmetic procedures. Pokimane’s message was widely supported by a large portion of the audience, including several other Twitch and YouTube content creators. This comes after Valkyrae spoke out against cosmetic procedures last month, saying she’d never go under the knife and denying claims that she had lip fillers.
