Pokemon GO players are resisting a task that requires them to visit a playground.

Pokemon GO can take players to a variety of locations, but a new task has them wondering if the rewards are worth the risks.

Most towns and cities have PokeStops and gyms where players can collect items, find eggs, and battle for control of the gym. Other places where Pokemon spawn can be popular, so crowds will often gather to try to catch a Shiny.

However, unlike PokeStops and gyms, which usually take players to civic monuments or parks, a new task will take them somewhere else. It’s making Pokemon GO players a little uneasy.

In order to complete a task in Pokemon GO, players must now go to a playground. Players receive a TM for scanning the kids playground at the designated location.

Despite this incentive, players debated whether a TM was worth the implication that a grown person would receive when scanning a playground with their phone on Reddit. Reddit user Kanataku summed up the fear perfectly when he said they’d “like to skip prison,” presumably for spying on children.

Others responded in the comments section, with one even jokingly reminding Kanataku to “ask the kids if they want some rare candy.” Hopefully, the rare candy won’t be offered from a windowless van.

Although this was most likely an oversight on Niantic’s part, it does highlight a problem that many Pokemon GO players face. Important in-game landmarks are frequently inaccessible or located in inconvenient locations, such as local schools. Tying in-game rewards to these locations can cause problems for both players and bystanders.

It may have made some players on Reddit chuckle, but local parents would prefer not to have strangers wandering around their playground. Even if they are only looking for a TM.
