When Overwatch 2 is released, the game will introduce a variety of new characters. Professional Overwatch player Matthew “Super” DeLisi got a chance to play Overwatch 2 during a preview event, and he was pleasantly delighted by what he saw.
Mei’s Endothermic Blaster will no longer freeze opponents in place, as Blizzard revealed earlier this year, but it will inflict more damage. However, we now know just how much more damage Mei is capable of doing.
Super revealed during a Twitch broadcast that Mei will now do 90 Damage Per Second (DPS), up from her current 55.
During the live broadcast, Super questioned Mei’s current DPS on her left click. In response, he stated; “55?!? In Overwatch 2, her left click is 90 per second. You don’t freeze anybody, but… you know what I mean? You just f**kin left click them to death!”
As the release date for Overwatch 2 approaches, it’s probable that Blizzard will continue to fine-tune Mei and the rest of the cast, and it’ll be interesting to see how fans react to these changes! Fans are understandably wary of any changes to online multiplayer games, so it will be interesting to see how Mei masters adjust their techniques in response.
Hopefully, this proves to be a positive adjustment that will work well with the game’s new five-on-five format.
Unfortunately, no release date for Overwatch 2 has been given, so fans may have to wait a long time to see how these improvements play out.
