Twitch streamer Nicro has been saying “Mario” for the sixth day in a row with every Twitch bit, donation, and subscription to his channel.
Popular Twitch streamers are known for doing strange things to entertain their viewers, but one streamer is taking things to a new level after a long hiatus. Nicro, a Twitch streamer known for Super Mario speedruns, is seeing a comeback for repeating the word “Mario.”
Nicro is a Twitch streamer from Canada who recently returned after taking a nine-month hiatus to focus on personal matters. Nicro returned to Twitch on December 1 with a strange new goal spotted by Dexerto after a long hiatus from content creation. Nicro intends to say the word Mario for every bit, donation, and sub, and the count continues to rise, thanks to his dedicated following.
Nicro has been live on Twitch for over 110 hours, including his sleeping hours, thanks to the additional Mario’s from his audience. Nicro has said “Mario” over 330,000 times, with a goal of saying it over 550,000 times. Nicro throws in other words as he sits in a beige recliner, including references to the music playing, Chris Pratt, who is set to play Mario in an upcoming film, the “It’s me” catchphrase, Logan Paul, Mario’s rival Wario, and various expletives.
Nicro is dressed in Super Mario cosplay for his Twitch subathon, complete with the Super Mario Odyssey cap and traditional blue coveralls. Nicro has mentioned losing his mind several times, stating that Mario goes insane and that he should be prayed for.
A Christmas-themed standee of the popular Nintendo hero holding a present surrounds the Twitch streamer at his station, as well as a child’s basketball net in which he shoots several balls occasionally to pass the time as he would typically play Wii Sports on stream.
Nicro hasn’t stopped streaming since he started his quest to say Mario countless times, in a manner similar to Twitch streamer Ludwig’s popular subathons. This means Nicro fans can watch their favorite Twitch streamer sleep while he’s chained to a nearby television playing Mario soundtracks from YouTube indefinitely. Nicro is known for speedrunning Super Mario Odyssey and Wii Sports, and was the first Nintendo fan to beat Super Mario Odyssey in under an hour, but this subathon is a departure for the gifted Nintendo fan.
Most 2D Super Mario games have a goal post to jump towards at the end, but Nicro is only thinking about completing his Mario count. There’s currently no end in sight for this subathon, with more Twitch donations pouring in for Nicro as he continues to repeat the word Mario. Nicro is expected to stream for over a week before his challenge is completed, after having streamed for 110 hours straight on Twitch. Nicro stated that he wants his fans to remember Mario for the rest of their lives, and that this Twitch subathon is just one of many Mario memories he wants to be a part of.
