Mavs Gaming has learned when it will be the first pick in the NBA 2K League Draft in 2022. The league announced today that a virtual draft will take place on February 26 at 6 p.m. ET. The league’s YouTube and Twitch channels will broadcast the draft live.

The fifth anniversary of the NBA 2K League marks this season, and the Mavs Gaming is the first overall pick for the second time. In 2018, Mavs Gaming received the first overall pick in the league’s inaugural draft. It’s a chance for the franchise to establish itself through the draft.

In November, Mavs Gaming won the NBA 2K League Draft Lottery. The team only had a 10.2 percent chance of winning the first overall pick after finishing last season with a 9-19 record.

After trading Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd last season, the team is rebuilding. Gerry Knapp aka “Sick One” and Zaeya “Zae” Ishak were both protected and kept by Mavs Gaming. The rest of their five-man roster will be filled through the three-round draft.

The NBA is also launching a season-long campaign called #NBA2KL5 to commemorate its fifth anniversary. It will highlight notable players and performances throughout the 2K League’s history.

Mavs Gaming will choose from a pool of unretained players, players who earned draft eligibility, select participants in the NBA 2K League’s Women in Gaming initiative, select competitors from Asia and Europe, and high-performing 2K community players with the first pick.

At a later date, the league will release a complete list of all players eligible for the draft.

Donohue will announce select picks and original content during the NBA 2K League Draft broadcast in 2022. Live look-ins on prospects, team “war rooms,” and league operations headquarters will also be featured.
