Following his viral review of the new blockbuster The Batman being slammed as “the worst Batman take” on Twitter, YouTuber Ludwig “Ludwig” Ahgren has issued an apology.
Ludwig is undeniably one of the most popular streamers on the planet. After launching his career on Twitch, he signed an exclusive deal with YouTube in November 2021 and has been steadily growing his following. That hasn’t stopped him from getting into trouble with fans, though. Many people blame Ludwig for Twitch cracking down on DMCA violations, and we still haven’t forgiven him for slamming Nando’s.
After a video of him giving an unenthusiastic review of The Batman went viral on Twitter and sparked a heated debate among moviegoers, the YouTuber was forced to apologize.
On March 6, Twitter user “Batman101” shared a short clip from Ludwig’s YouTube stream from the day before, in which he discussed DC’s highly anticipated The Batman, which was released on March 4. The worst Batman take he’d ever heard, according to Batman101, who went on to say that he thought The Batman was “fine,” but that he thought it would be more fun.
As Batman fans flocked to share their reactions to Ludwig’s controversial take, the video racked up over a million views.
Following the backlash, Ludwig took to YouTube on March 7 to apologize and explain his perspective on The Batman in greater detail. He did, however, declare that he should be allowed to express his viewpoint.
Ludwig emphasized that he thought The Batman was good, but not great. He thought Robert Pattinson’s performance as Catwoman was wasted, even though he praised Zoe Kravitz’s. Ludwig appears to have done nothing to dampen The Batman hype, as the film continues to dominate theaters, grossing a whopping $128.5 million in its first weekend in North America.
As he wrapped up the video, Ludwig stated that the most important lesson he’d taken away from the backlash was that DC fans are ruthless savages when it comes to defending films based on the caped crusader.
