When Imane “Pokimane” and Linus Sebastian of Linus Tech Tips went head-to-head on Twitter earlier this month, fans were surprised to see what they saw.
Linus sparked the debate when he said that for Twitch to survive as a livestreaming platform, it needs to include more advertisements and advertisers.
Imane initially reacted to the YouTuber’s stance by stating that Twitch should start adding advertisements to the sidebar or another way rather than directly into the stream.
After Linus mockingly called Pokimane a “nameless creator,” the two creators’ conversation cooled for a few days, but on May 5th, Pokimane updated her fans by uploading a statement in the form of a notes document.
Fast forward to today, when Linus hosted The WAN Show, a weekly podcast, and tried to put an end to the saga by apologizing for his actions.
Linus Tech Tips’ alternate YouTube channel LMG Clips posted an eight-minute video titled “I’m sorry, Pokimane” earlier today, which was taken directly from Linus’ apology on the latest WAN Show for calling out the famous Twitch star.
Linus continued his speech by discussing the online careers of various influencers and how he went on to build his YouTube brand.
The tech YouTuber clarified that he wasn’t trying to start a feud with the well-known Moroccan-Canadian livestreamer and gave his side of the story. He apologized for the negative feedback he received for his Valley Girl impersonation and stated that he will tone it down in the future.
Linus continued to host his podcast after the apologies and discussed various other topics and happenings in the tech world.
The video drew a lot of attention, and fans had opposing viewpoints on the situation
Some fans praised Linus for apologizing to Pokimane and putting an end to the controversy as quickly as possible, while others believed the former owed no one an apology.
