Kamel “Kamet0” Kebir, a cult French streamer, has made a significant dent in the Twitch title race this month, climbing into the Amazon-owned platform’s top 10 most-watched stars as a result of his participation in the ‘Pixel Wars,’ which were sparked by Reddit’s special April Fool’s Day event, /r/place.

According to data from analytics firm Rainmaker.gg, via StreamElements, the 26-year-old was immediately ranked sixth among Twitch’s most-watched streamers.

Kameto nearly surpassed Valorant streamer Tarik and top-10 mainstays Roshtein and Summit1g in total hours watched for the month of April. The haul of the French star placed him behind Asmongold, Ibai, and Auronplay. Only two people truly outperformed Kameto: Gaules, a Brazilian juggernaut with nearly 16 million hours watched, and the unstoppable xQc.

Kamet0 surpassed one million total hours watched in the same month.

The massive internet-wide hype surrounding Reddit’s /r/place event in early April, which was eventually dubbed “The Pixel Wars,” propelled Twitch’s rising French star into the top six.

On Reddit’s digital art page, these “wars” were fought online.

On the user-sourced fresco, Kamet0 rallied his 1.4 million Twitch followers to create a French flag and a digital drawing of the Eiffel Tower. The catch was that the 26-year-old took up an inordinate amount of space on the limited size of the Reddit-sponsored April Fool’s Day collaborative work, which enraged other online communities.

Every day in April, the French streamer—who founded esports organization Karmine Corp in 2020—went live, including a massive 16-hour stream on the final day of /r/place.

As the Reddit collaborative artwork came to an end on Monday, April 4, the star’s Paris and France-themed dream changed slightly. Originally, the plan included a large flag and tower drawing, but the Eiffel Tower was replaced with a smaller Arc de Triomphe. Other elements were added to the red, white, and blue French flag, including an image of Zinedine Zidane shushing fans.

Kamet0 has experienced a meteoric rise on Twitch in recent years, with his most significant numbers coming in 2021 and 2022. He has a little more than 22,000 Amazon subscribers as of this writing.

League of Legends, Valorant, and GTA Online are the games that the star prefers to play.
