Howard Stern learns about some of the trends on Twitch, including Amouranth, during a recent segment on a radio show.
As technology advances and people discover new forms of entertainment, such as Twitch, it’s not surprising that people from the past are initially perplexed by the change. So, in an almost unanticipated crossover event, radio legend Howard Stern was recently updated on Twitch trends.
Stern came across Amouranth, one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, while learning about Hot Tub Streams and other Twitch meta cultures.
Stern watches Amouranth do a stream of her just sleeping during his segment on the show. The mere concept of the stream, let alone the fact that 40,000 people were watching Amouranth sleep, astounded Stern and his other guests.
Stern seemed amused by the idea of people paying for this content, despite his confusion. Stern first wondered if Amouranth was actually sleeping or if she was just acting. Stern went on to say that being so hot that so many people are watching someone sleep is impressive. Stern then compares the current size of Amourath’s audience to that of a sports stadium.
Stern spent the majority of the segment delving into the history of female streamers. He and his co-host were discussing the history of hostile audiences and the attention that this attracts to women, particularly from a male audience. Stern and his co-host reflected on how grateful they would have been to receive this type of content for free when all they had were magazines. For cursing out the women who do these streams, Stern calls these toxic audience members “idiots.”
Stern also learned about Raihnbowkidz, a Twitch Streamer who was one of the first to create hypersexual content on Twitch in 2016. They discussed her decision to leave this content and what eventually persuaded her to return after a few years. She was tired of the strain the push-up bra was putting on her shoulders, as well as the negative comments she was receiving. She simply decided to do what makes her happy and ignore the negativity from toxic Twitch fans as the reason for returning to sexual content.
While this may seem obvious to many younger people, it’s fantastic that Stern and the other co-hosts were able to educate an older audience about Twitch while also addressing the negative aspects. They even respect the position, claiming that if it were as simple as people believe, everyone would do it. Amouranth hasn’t said anything about the segment as of yet.
