Following a closed-door preview with the development team, Overwatch content creators are praising the game.
As Activision Blizzard continues to deal with the internal strife caused by multiple instances of toxic workplace culture becoming public and employee revolt due to Activision’s handling of the fallout, all news about it has dried up in Overwatch 2. Despite the fact that development is still ongoing, there hasn’t been any recent news for Overwatch fans. However, it appears that the Overwatch team is giving some streamers and content creators a sneak peek at what it’s been working on, and the creators have all praised the game’s future prospects.
On December 16, shortly after wrapping up a meeting with Overwatch 2 developers, Overwatch content creators took to social media to sing praises for the progress being made. Because attending the event came with a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), none of them were willing to go into detail about what they saw, but bubbly optimism from the majority, if not all, creators in attendance is igniting new life in the discussions about Overwatch 2.
YourOverwatch, a YouTube creator, expressed his excitement about the game’s upcoming content in all caps for dramatic effect. Twitch streamer EeveeA agrees saying that their expectations for Overwatch are “through the roof.”
Even the game’s most critical critics appear to have been impressed by whatever the creators were shown. Former Contenders Pro SamitoFPS expressed his optimism “for the first time in a long time,” and Toronto Defiant content creator KarQ, who was traveling at the time, paid for airline for a wifi to join in on the event and shared his optimism for what he saw mid-flight.
The news that content creators have seen more of Overwatch 2 has been met with a mix of muted optimism and outspoken skepticism. Some fans are even claiming that any positive reactions to what they saw were bought off in order to re-establish trust in a community that has been kept in the dark recently.
The creators are doing everything they can to avoid breaking the NDA, but the Overwatch community isn’t overjoyed to hear good news about a game they haven’t heard much about in months, and the developers haven’t done much with Overwatch outside of seasonal events and patches. Despite this, some fans have expressed faith in the optimism of their favorite streamer.

The last time fans saw anything from Overwatch 2 was in October, when Overwatch League players played map and 5v5 preview games. That was before the game was postponed to an unspecified date in the future.
