After accidentally equipping a chest plate instead of wings, Twitch streamer btecbill_ lost a 4,137 hardcore Minecraft world live.

Minecraft can be a peaceful experience with no enemies and a focus on building, or a hellscape where one wrong move can wipe out months of progress, depending on what difficulty you play it on. Hardcore is the pinnacle of this, wiping out your entire world and progress if you die even once.

No one has felt the pain quite like btecbill_, who was livestreaming the 4,137th in-game day on his hardcore Minecraft world, according to Game Rant. Bill was demonstrating his world’s quarry when a viewer inquired about the skin he was wearing beneath his Netherite armour and Elytra wings.

Bill responded by removing his armour and wings to reveal his skin. After that, he began reassembling the armour, but he overlooked the most crucial component: the Elytra wings. These wings, as the name implies, allow players to glide around when falling from a great height, a feature that would eventually cost Bill his hardcore progress.

Bill mistakenly put on a Netherite chest plate instead of the wings before jumping towards the quarry and realising his error and shouting, “Wait, wait, no, no!” It was too late, and btecbill_ became a victim of the hardcore Minecraft world’s struggles. The video has since been shared widely on TikTok.

Bill was supposed to finish the run in 4,500 days, but it looks like he’ll have to move on or restart from the beginning.
