The next HCS Major tournament is quickly approaching, with an array of international teams set to compete in Kansas City starting on April 29th. With a prize pool of $250,000 on the line and Cloud9 defeated by Optic Gaming in the online FaZe Invitational, there’s never been a better time to watch esports of Halo Infinite.
If entertainment isn’t enough, Halo developer 343 Industries has announced a number of Twitch drops that will be available throughout the weekend. There are four available, and each rewarded on different days or through different streams.
Viewers who watch the tournament action on the official Halo stream for a total of three hours will receive a vehicle coating that will work on all Warthog models. The Warthog is given a sleek black polish with gold trim and a hint of crimson. It contributes to a more opulent aesthetic for the vehicles than cosmetics often do, making it worthwhile to set aside a few hours to secure it. You can also get a front-end attachment for the Warthog, which includes a unique bumper and set of headlights to match the new paint job.
You will receive a new weapon charm if you watch the grand finals for one hour on May 1st, the final day of HCS Kansas City. The charm is called “Clean Sweep,” and it’s inspired by the legendary Extermination medal from classic Halo games, which was only awarded if a player could kill the entire enemy team before any of them respawned. It’s a little piece of nostalgia to take into battle with you.
As with previous HCS Major tournaments, a number of unnamed partnered co-streamers will be streaming and watching the games throughout the weekend.
Viewers who spend two hours watching one of these co-streams between April 29th and May 1st will receive a new HCS-inspired Backdrop for their Spartan profile.
HCS also has a Grassroots program, in which it collaborates with long-term community members on a variety of Halo-related promotions and partnerships. During the weekend, viewers who watch one of these streamers for an hour will receive another Backdrop, this time in the form of an encased trophy to display behind your profile and banner.
Connect your Twitch account to Halo Infinite and start earning drops for your Spartan by going to the Halo Waypoint site and connecting your Twitch account. When HCS Kansas City goes live on April 29th until May 1st, you’ll be ready to start earning rewards once you’ve linked your account. Start times and partnered co-streamers will be announced via HCS on Twitter at a later date.
