Epic Games may be adding another Warzone and Apex Legends-like feature to Fortnite soon in the form of a sliding mechanic, according to a new Fortnite leak.

Fans of Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Warzone have been pleading with game developers to take inspiration from one another and incorporate new features into their respective games for a long time.

While each of the standout battle royales is distinct in its own way, those decisions have resulted in the adaptation of features such as respawning mechanics, loot vaults, and vehicles for the three games in question.

Epic Games appears to be set to bring a movement mechanic that both Warzone and Apex use as the various developers continue to innovate and take their respective games to the next level.

As reported by HYPEX, the Fortnite developers are working on a new movement type called Sliding.

“When you slide, it will increase your FOV by 15 and make your camera shake, with a 2 second cooldown,” HYPEX wrote. “I have no idea when it will be released or if it will be an item!”

While details about the change are scarce, many players have already noted how divisive the sliding movement has been in Warzone, and it can also be used in Apex Legends from time to time.

However, with a rumored Fortnite cooldown in place, some of the disadvantages may be mitigated. You wouldn’t be able to snake around like CoD players do in gunfights to gain an advantage.

If it’s an item, it could simply be a gimmick, like the ice blocks from previous Fortnite seasons, which provided a movement boost but weren’t game-breaking.

It remains to be seen which direction Epic will take with things, but it will certainly be interesting.
