Fortnite is best known for its cartoonish skins, item customizations, cool and weird dances and emotes that are frequently being added to the shop either as free items or purchasable with v-bucks. It is also characterized by its bright and outlandish terrains and architecture, and seasonal in-game upgrades. However, arguably the most notable aspects of the game are its vehicles, traps and tools, structure-building elements (admittedly inspired by Minecraft) and fun camouflage tools, such as the bush. This piece will be focusing on Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Fortnite: Battle Royale’s Gameplay
The game begins with player being dispersed across the map by the airborne Battle Bus, with players having some control over where they land relative to their drop point from the sky. Once they have landed, players scramble to find chests containing weapons, and other useful items, which will allow them to defend themselves, gather crafting materials such as brick, metal and wood by destroying structures and cutting down trees, and other useful items, including health potions, traps and vehicles. Items can also be found lying around in the various buildings and are dropped when a player successfully kills another player’s avatar.
Throughout the game, there is a damage-incurring storm that slowly narrows as the game progresses, thereby compelling players to move to a more limited space. This helps ensure that players are forced into confrontation sooner rather than later, as it would otherwise be quite difficult to find remaining players, as their numbers start dwindling.
Players are motivated to continue playing rounds so as to gain experience which will help them progress in tiers and earn v-bucks, skins and items, by means of seasonal Battle Passes. These passes are either free or premium, with premium allowing for far more rewards than the free version. Each in-game season lasts about 12 weeks, with each new season being characterized with limited skins and items accessible through the shop, some free some purchasable. Skins and items offer the avatar no benefits beyond aesthetics, thereby allowing players to remain on even footing, regardless of premium membership.
How to Get Free Items and Skins

From Season 3 onwards, Fortnite launched a weekly challenge event, giving players a chance to earn special skins and items upon completion of three of the seven weekly tasks. There are also special challenges exclusively available for Premium Battle Pass subscribers. These challenges can be anything from scoring basketball shots to eliminating other avatars in specific locations in a specific sequence.

Events
Fortnite: Battle Royale is estimated to be earning Epic games hundreds of millions of dollars in profits monthly, and the good news is that they now run tournaments, such as the Summer Skirmish and PRO-AM 2018 for players to earn their share of millions of dollars’ worth of real-world USD. Of course, you’ll be competing against the likes of Ninja, Dr. Lupo and TSM Myth, so you’d better have some skill.
