After bringing up his political views in response to Twitch streamer Hasan, YouTube content creator Dream is causing a stir once more.
Dream is a well-known YouTube content creator who has been involved in a seemingly endless amount of drama and controversy. He is a young, extraordinarily successful YouTuber who shares a lot of his life on social media. This creates a frustrating cycle whereby current controversies about the Dream feed into earlier ones. The most recent instance occurred recently when Dream addressed his prior political views in response to a tweet from Twitch streamer HasanAbi.
Hasan’s tweet about a recent stream starring Kickboxer, Big Brother star, and alleged sexual assaulter Andrew Tate was what initially set off the bizarre situation. The already contentious subject made Dream the target of a variety of responses, from the perplexed to those choosing to attack Dream for simply responding, regardless of what he said, in response to Hasan’s tweet. Dream’s response to Hasan’s tweet included a sarcastic, mocking, and meme-filled take regarding women being drawn to Tate’s top g energy.
However, one remark really got under Dream’s skin. It declared Dream to be a “closeted republican” who likely supports Tate.
The YouTube content creator then elaborates, saying he’s sick of the take that he still has the views on display within his old Reddit account. First, Dream points to the topic the Twitter user is referring to, accusing them of only saying Dream is a closet Republican because of doxed Reddit posts from when he was 15 and couldn’t even vote. Let people change their perspectives from when they were young, he continues. He goes on to say, in so many words, that people should let go of their hatred and use reason.
What Dream omits to say is where his current political views are, but he certainly owes no one—let alone someone pursuing him online—that information. At the very least, he seems to be abandoning his prior support for Donald Trump and other divisive political and cultural stances.
He wants to be given the opportunity to change his mind. He also promotes his community as being supportive of abortion, the LGBT community, and women, cutting through his sarcasm. Overall, Dream’s Twitter exchange is just another illustration of the kind of minor dramatic controversies he frequently gets involved in.
He already gave a messy response to a contentious topic before responding to a random Twitter user who brought up a completely unrelated old controversy. It’s crucial to keep in mind that Dream is still only 22 and that, if anything, the situations Dream creates only help him gain more fame. In any case, controversy is loved by the YouTube algorithm.
