On Sunday, October 10th, 2021, Mojang sent a tweet announcing the return of the live mob vote at the forthcoming Minecraft Live 2021 on October 16th, 2021.
The choice was precarious in and of itself, as the live mob vote was known to have sparked debate. The celebrations for Minecraft Live 2020 were hampered by the scrutiny engendered by the results of the live mob vote.
One of the most popular Minecraft YouTuber and Twitch streamer, Dream, has been criticized for his contentious conduct during the Minecraft Live 2020 live mob vote.
Dream responded on the 10th of October 2021 to the announcement of the next live mob vote at Minecraft Live 2021 on Saturday, October 16th, 2021. The live vote between the three mobs Iceologer, Moobloom, and Glow Squid at Minecraft Live 2020 sparked a lot of debate. When the voting began, Dream encouraged his fans and followers to vote for the Glow Squid.
Those who had voted for other mobs felt the poll had been rigged when the squid eventually triumphed. Despite other content creators tweeted their thoughts on the mobs, Dream is respected for his immense online reach, and it’s unsurprising why fans felt the results had been tampered with.
Dream later apologized and accepted responsibility for his provocative behavior, but his apologies couldn’t make up for what the audience perceived to be an injustice.
Following the recent announcement that the live mob vote would be returning, the faceless streamer used the opportunity to respond to the tweet with a simple jab at his contentious antics from the previous year. Dream’s response was straightforward and lighthearted as he stated; “I’m going to rig it.”
The controversy seems like a distant memory. Now, audiences and content creators alike can laugh alongside the faceless streamer by making jibes at last year’s live mob vote.
