Dr. Disrespect‘s game studio Midnight Society is led by former “Call of Duty” and “Halo” employees.
YouTuber and Call of Duty streamer Dr. Disrespect recently launched his own game development studio called Midnight Society, and it is now giving away 10,000 “Founders Access” NFTs to members of the early community.
After Dr. Disrespect received indefinitely banned from Twitch last 2020, he announced the NFT that comes shortly after he tweeted that he has resolved his legal dispute with the live-streaming platform and is “moving on.” but he didn’t say if he was still barred.
The gaming NFTs of Dr Disrespect will cost $50 each and it will be available on the Polygon blockchain. According to the Midnight Society website, Founders Pass holders will get early access to game builds, a profile picture that can be used in Midnight Society games, access to studio events, and voting rights on game features.
Co-founder of Midnight Society and the creator of Call of Duty Robert Bowling says that he sees NFTs as an important part of Midnight’s gaming ecosystem. Midnight Society holders of Founders Passes will receive avatars that are unique and collectors that will not be able to monetize their NFTs in the same way.
The holders of Founders Pass will only be able to buy and sell them on secondary NFT marketplaces like OpenSea and Rarible after the initial minting or primary sale.
Even though the project’s marketing avoids calling the Founders Passes NFTs, Dr Disrespect’s NFTs received some backlash. It’s not the first gaming company to face backlash after announcing NFTs: Ubisoft and Worms developers all faced backlash after announcing NFTs.
