Dr Disrespect, a streaming celebrity, once again made a playful jab at YouTube by emphasizing how well-liked he is despite not having a partnership with them.
Many fans wondered where Dr Disrespect would take his talents when he was unexpectedly banned from Twitch in June 2020 and whether he would sign a big exclusive contract with his next platform of choice. The Doc quickly chose YouTube as his platform of choice, where he quickly attracted close to 500,000 people for his debut stream. Since then, he has continued to succeed, although he does not have an exclusive contract with the platform controlled by Google.
The YouTube Gaming team has received numerous requests from fans to bind Doc and bring him under their official wing, thus it is only natural that the Two-Time has taken some jabs at YouTube for that reason over the past few years. That hasn’t happened yet, but Doc is still among YouTube’s most watched streamers and even surpasses some of the platform’s in-house artists.
That reality was once more emphasized when the YouTube Gaming team asked users on Twitter what their preferred stream intro was. Naturally, The Doc received support from the Champions Club, who flooded the comments with compliments on his production and now-iconic 10-minute opening clip. The Two-Time took advantage of that as an opportunity to poke fun at the platform by posting a video of all the comments made about him. He tweeted, “Every time YouTubeGaming tweets…,” demonstrating how overwhelmingly the comments were about him.
The Doc can still profit from YouTube despite not having a contract with it. It just means that he is collaborating with them on projects, much like YouTube does with users like Ludwig and Valkyrae.
It appears improbable that he will ever have a deal given the fact that he hasn’t had one up to this time. He might not really require one, though. After the contentious ban, he doesn’t seem to be all that interested in returning to Twitch, and there isn’t really any alternative platform.
