The International 10 is in the books, with Team Spirit winning the event and taking home the lion’s share of the record-breaking $40 million prize pool after an incredible lower bracket run full of upsets against top teams.
The prize pool wasn’t the only aspect of the tournament that set new records. Spirit vs. PSG in the finals. According to Esports Charts, LGD peaked at more than 2.7 million viewers, a new TI viewership record, up 37 percent from TI9’s 1.9 million peak during OG’s showdown with Team Liquid.
Spirit’s run also drew in Eastern European viewers, with the grand finals attracting 1.2 million simultaneous viewers across all Russian-language streams for the event. This is a new CIS viewership record, and the 41.2 million hours watched set a regional record, making TI10 the region’s most popular esports event ever.
The CIS streams’ peak of 1.2 million viewers also outperformed the English stream’s peak of one million viewers.
According to Esports Charts, TI10 reached 1.7 million viewers on Twitch, over 662,400 on YouTube, and 114,000 concurrent viewers on Facebook Gaming. During the grand finals, DotaTV had around 188,000 concurrent viewers, breaking its previous record of 186,000 set during TI8.
Spirit was also by far the most popular team throughout TI10, with 34.9 million hours watched across the entire event, accounting for 33 percent of total hours watched. They also had the highest average viewership, with 798,000 people watching each match.
From October 7 to October 17, 107.2 million hours were watched on TI10, a nearly 20 million hour increase over TI9. In addition, the event averaged 857,343 viewers over the course of its 125-hour run, up from 738,873 viewers over the course of TI9’s 120 hours.
Fans all over the world were clearly itching for some International Dota after the two-year gap between TI9 and TI10. The number of viewers increased across the board, with prime-time viewers increasing by 30 to 35 percent.
