Jack “CouRage” Dunlop was one of the main faces of the game as a caster when “Fortnite” first started as an esport. During streams and tournaments, casters are gaming experts who provide live commentary on gameplay and highlight moments.
CouRage was cast for multiple Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) and the Fortnite World Cup, the game’s largest international gathering, a prestigious honor. CouRage, on the other hand, vanished from the casting scene after Chapter 1 Season 10. Some speculated that it was due to CouRage’s mechs quote, which occurred shortly before he stopped casting.
CouRage said “f*** the mechs” after he and partner TimTheTatman were killed by a team of mechs during a Twitch Rivals tournament, according to Dot Esports. It wasn’t something he said as a caster during an Epic Games event, but a reaction he had while competing in the tournament on his own stream. Still, it appears that disparaging mechs in general irritated Epic.
To be fair, CouRage’s outburst reflected the feelings of some players. Many people thought that using mechs was a way to cheat their way to victory. Epic eventually gave in to the B.R.U.T.E. mech, making changes in the hopes of appeasing its player base.
Fortnite took a break from official streams for the majority of 2020. Then, during the Fortnite World Cup, official streams reappeared with familiar faces like Zeke, BallaTW, Sundown, MonsterDFace, and Shyowager, who were cast alongside CouRage.
CouRage, on the other hand, didn’t seem to mind. His primary focus has always been on content creation. He’s also a top YouTube streamer and a co-owner of 100 Thieves, so even without Epic’s blessing, he’s still a successful esports entrepreneur. He doesn’t have to worry about being fired for an outburst on stream now that he’s his own boss.
