Fans are taking strange measures to combat the game’s skill-based matchmaking in Call of Duty: Vanguard, as they are intentionally losing to combat the game’s skill-based matchmaking.

The open beta for Sledgehammer’s return to Call of Duty is now available, providing the first glimpses of the game. Players are already figuring out how to rip down their foes, with pros like Scump demonstrating some of Vanguard’s filthiest weapons. However, not every fan who has tried Vanguard has had a positive experience.

While the developers are working to fix various audio and visual bugs, players are now going to new lengths to find enjoyment in the beta.

Players in the Vanguard beta were thrown into classic Team Deathmatch scenarios as well as the gunfight-themed Champion Hill. Despite its initial popularity among fans due to its use of the Modern Warfare engine, Vanguard’s multiplayer experience hasn’t been without flaws.

Players were particularly enraged by the beta’s disgusting spawn systems in the now-defunct Hotel Royal map. In order to find lower-level lobbies, fans are now deliberately losing.

In response to Henderson’s actions, one fan remarked; “Is it that serious that you have to go through the trouble of reverse boosting to enjoy the game?”

The developers haven’t addressed this Vanguard-specific iteration of reverse boosting yet, but stay tuned as more information becomes available.
