After releasing his documentary on the controversial figure at South by Southwest, YouTube star Casey Neistat recently revealed that he hasn’t spoken to David Dobrik in over a year.
Casey Neistat is one of the first YouTube creators. He’s best known for his former daily vlogs in New York City, with over 12.4 million subscribers. He’s been hard at work on a full-fledged documentary recently, though.
Recent allegations against David Dobrik involving the Vlog Squad have made the 25-year-old a hot topic – so much so that Neistat decided to make a documentary about him.
Since the documentary’s premiere at SXSW on March 12, Neistat has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Dobrik in over a year because of the project.
Neistat revealed in a recent interview at SXSW that he hasn’t spoken to Dobrik in over a year, after former Business Insider journalist Kat Timbarge exposed Dobrik for sexual assault allegations in March of 2021.
He also claimed that his documentary was the “catalyst for the shift” in focus.
In addition to refusing to speak with the 25-year-old YouTube sensation, Neistat confirmed that Dobrik has seen the documentary but was hesitant to tell SXSW how he felt about it.
While no one knows when Neistat’s documentary “Under The Influence” will be released to the public, we do know that it will be available for private viewing at SXSW until March 16, 2022.
