When Twitch star streamer Asmongold returned to New World, he was taken aback by how empty it was, and he hopes the game’s player base doesn’t completely die out.

Over the last few months, the wind has been taken out of New World’s sails.

The MMO has been losing players steadily since its massive launch in September 2021. It has also fought for relevance in the wake of Amazon Game Studios’ release of Lost Ark, a massively popular MMO that has topped the charts since its release.

With no room left for New World, Asmongold believes it has a chance to survive in the long run, but he was surprised to see how many players the game had lost when he returned to Aeternum.

When the 30-year-old streamer returned to New World after a hiatus on March 29th, he was live.

The OTK member was taken aback when he saw how barren the game’s world was.

Asmon explained that he used to “love” streaming New World and that it was the “ideal” game for his second channel, zackrawrr, to broadcast.

In March 2022, the daily player count for the Amazon-published MMO had dropped to 700,000. Despite the game’s dramatic drop-off, Asmongold remains optimistic that it can recapture the momentum it had at launch.
