Twitch streamer Asmongold has led twitch with his impressive personal record viewership for just a month of July. Asmongold’s popularity on Twitch among MMO fans is undisputed.
In July month, Asmongold achieved an impressive 14.6 million hours watched on the platform and this is presumably also attributed to his popularity for his recent Final Fantasy XIV streams. With his 14.6 million hours watched, Asmongold edged out popular variety streamer xQc, who recorded 14 million. Since the start of the year, Asmongold has accumulated a total of 37 million hours watched and nearly half a million new followers.
While Asmongold’s ability to put up strong viewership is well-documented, his performance in July was unprecedented because of how he achieved his success. Early in the month, Asmongold began to play Final Fantasy XIV for the first time after years of holding out on fans who begged him to try World of Warcraft’s biggest competition in the MMO genre.
His first stream playing the game at the beginning of the month, he already eclipsed 200,000 concurrent viewers and throughout the month, he managed to maintain an average of 95,000 viewers while playing the game over 75 hours of stream time. Over the course of the entire month, Asmongold posted an average of 86,479 viewers in 168 hours of streaming. With 168 hours of streaming on his main channel, he averaged just under 40 hours of airtime per week.
Because of this impressive achievement of Asmongold, the organization he belongs to, the OTK also achieved a milestone as it has now become the biggest streaming organisation in the world with over 25 million hours watched, according to the latest viewership statistics.
