Twitch streamer Amouranth, hinted at funding a convention, though not necessarily one centered around her.
Amouranth belongs to the elite group of streamers who have developed into respectable public figures independent of Twitch or other platforms. She’s also made incredibly profitable use of that celebrity, recently claiming she can withdraw $100,000 every day worry-free. Neither is Amouranth slowing down. Recently, she revealed on social media that she wants to run her own convention. To the dismay of Twitch fans, she also makes it clear that the convention wouldn’t necessarily be focused on Amouranth.
Amouranth enquired of her followers via her personal Twitter account, “wildkait,” if they had started or managed a convention before or knew of anyone who had. She mentions specifically looking for someone with “director, management, c suite, or chair/board level experience,” which means she’s searching for convention organizational veterans to either help her figure out the next steps for running a convention or to start taking those next steps. All signs point to Amouranth taking the prospect of hosting a convention very seriously.
However, it’s unclear exactly what Amouranth hopes to accomplish with a convention. She does, however, state that she would prefer to have the convention in her hometown, which is most likely Houston, Texas.
She also states that her target attendance would be at least 25,000, which is still a sizable number compared to the biggest fan conventions in the world.
Amouranth doesn’t elaborate on the convention’s topic. She does clarify that this is not an amo-con bat signal and that I have little connection to the topic other than the fact that I was and still am a fan. In other words, rather than hosting a convention for the Amouranth brand or any of her various streams, products, or services, it sounds like Amouranth wants to host one for something she enjoys.
Even though Amouranth has so far framed the convention in a very enigmatic manner, that is not necessarily what she wants. The popular Twitch streamer makes it clear that she intends to reveal more details about her plans in the coming weeks. She is merely attempting to gain a better understanding of the requirements for a convention at this time. It is the initial phase of a process.
A convention devoted to Amouranth’s streaming services would undoubtedly be well-attended. Over 20,000 people attended YouTuber Tana Mongeau’s disastrous convention in Anaheim, California before it was shut down and postponed. Amouranth will likely soon provide more details about what may turn out to be a highly anticipated event, whether it has to do with Twitch or something else.
