Professional player ImperialHal makes an unusual choice during the ALGS Championship after spotting a disconnected foe on the World’s Edge map.

One of the most popular battle royale games, Apex Legends has a large and talented professional player base who regularly compete and stream their gameplay. A recent LAN event called the latest Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship brought together many of the game’s biggest names. ImperialHal is one of the most well-liked of the professional players present.

Since the battle royale’s release in 2019, ImperialHal, a member of the esports team TSM, has established himself playing Apex Legends.

Together with Verhulst and Reps, two other TSM members, he has regularly streamed his gameplay to thousands of Twitch viewers in recent months. The professional is renowned for his intense competitiveness, but he has also recently received praise for his sportsmanship.

On the World’s Edge map, during one of their matches in the ALGS Championship match on Saturday, ImperialHal and his teammates encountered an odd circumstance. A rival was standing in the open and not moving as the pro player moved in the direction of the train tracks outside of Fragment East.

ImperialHal called out to his teammates, requesting that they refrain from opening fire, as he quickly realized that the enemy player had probably lost connection. The player was then left alone by TSM as they retreated from them rather than attacking them.

This incident’s peculiar circumstances are unquestionably noteworthy. Since there appears to be no rule prohibiting players from killing opponents who are disconnected, it is unknown how other professionals would have handled the situation. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see a gamer treat their fellow competitors with sportsmanship while in the middle of a match.

The ALGS Championship has a $2 million prize pool, which makes the choice to spare the AFK player all the more noteworthy because it might have affected TSM’s chances of winning the competition.

Numerous fans have voiced their opinions about the situation since ImperialHal decided not to kill the disconnected player. Most fans expressed their admiration for the professional player’s sportsmanship during a crucial match in the comments, and many tweeted their support. In fact, ImperialHal has since made comments about his own choice. The professional player made the remark while likely alluding to the connection issues in Apex Legends Season 13.

Thankfully, ImperialHal’s display of sportsmanship did not jeopardize his team’s chances of winning the ALGS competition. Even so, ImperialHal, along with his TSM teammates Reps and Verhulst, were able to advance to today’s ALGS championship round.

If TSM or one of the other highly competitive teams wins the grand prize, only time will tell. For the sake of those taking part, it is hoped that there won’t be any connection problems in Apex Legends during the grand finals, regardless of which team prevails.
