343 Industries recently addressed the on-going cheating in Halo Infinite, as concerns about the game’s state have grown since its release.
The multiplayer mode in Halo Infinite is free to download and play, and cheating has already become an issue since it launched.
Some console players have already requested that 343 add the ability to turn off crossplay with PC in order to avoid encountering cheaters on that platform. Now that the community of Halo Infinite manager John Junyszek has addressed the said cheating concerns in the game, there are signs that things are going to get better.
Junyszek stated that cheating is an unfortunate part of supporting a free-to-play PC game, and that it is something that users have already anticipated, but that they are prepared and committed to releasing consistent improvements to their game’s systems and taking action against bad actors.
Junyszek later clarified that the improvements to their game’s systems refers to not only 343’s anti-cheat system, but also the rest of the game and explained that it’s worded that way because they don’t take a single feature’ approach to anti-cheat, rather a game-wide approach.
One of the issues with Halo Infinite and cheating is that there is currently no in-game feature to report cheaters. Junyszek acknowledged this, implying that an in-game reporting feature will be added in the future.
To report cheaters, users must first go to the Support website of Halo Infinite and then submit a ticket, along with any uploaded video evidence.
Junyszek acknowledged that an in-game ‘Report Player’ feature is desired, but asked users to file reports using this method for the time being.
343 Industries and Microsoft said that they will be desperate to avoid Halo Infinite suffering the same fate. In the fight against cheating, game companies face an uphill battle, but Halo Infinite hopes to mitigate cheating as much as possible in the months ahead.
