Legendary AD Carry Uzi will take a break from professional play after joining Bilibili Gaming in the LPL at the start of 2022.
One of the most eagerly anticipated moves of the 2022 offseason was the return of Uzi.
Uzi retired in 2020 due to debilitating health issues that were affecting his ability to compete. He was widely regarded as one of the best AD Carriers to ever play the game. In 2022, he returned to BLG after a year spent focusing on his health and fitness in order to regain full fighting fitness.
He returned as one of two starting AD Carriers for BLG, with PCS rookie Chiu ‘Doggo’ Tzu-Chuan as the other. The plan was for the two players to split time throughout the split, allowing Uzi to take time off if his health began to deteriorate. Doggo started the majority of BLG’s games.
BLG announced just two days before the LPL Spring Playoffs’ first match that Uzi will be taking an indefinite break from competing. The decision was made “in full cooperation” with Uzi, according to the team’s Weibo announcement.
According to the announcement, the move is temporary for the time being. BLG explained that the team’s overall progress had been unsatisfactory, and that Uzi’s absence would give him time to rest and improve his condition.
The opponent for Bilibili Gaming’s first-round playoff opponent has yet to be determined, but the roster will compete on March 26th without Uzi.
