Blizzard has confirmed that the next World of Warcraft expansion will be unveiled next week.
The video presentation will begin at 5 p.m. BST/6 p.m. CEST/9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on YouTube and Twitch.
Blizzard said in a statement announcing the news that the Shadowlands expansion of World of Warcraft has “ignited imaginations” with its rich storytelling and expansive worlds.
The Shadowlands deliver a world that challenges heroes to confront the forces that threaten to upset the cosmic balance between life and death, from the hopeless depths of the Maw to the ethereal plains of Zereth Mortis.
With the story in the Shadowlands coming to a close, now is the perfect time to get a sneak peek at what the heroes of Azeroth will be up to next.
The expansion was first confirmed last month, and earlier this month, a public source code update on the official World of Warcraft website hinted that the expansion would be called “Dragonflight,” with pre-purchases for the Base, Heroic, and Epic Expansions expected to be available following next week’s reveal.
Earlier this month, a Twitch streamer known for his World of Warcraft streams expressed his doubts about the expansion’s long-term viability.
In other Activision Blizzard news, the company has confirmed the appointment of a new chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, despite ongoing allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and workplace misconduct.
Kristen Hines will be responsible for implementing programs and policies that promote a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. She will also play a key role in Activision Blizzard’s five-year goal of increasing the number of women and non-binary people in the company’s workforce by 50%.
