A cryptocurrency that was based on the show on Netflix called Squid Game has recently turned out to be a massive scam, with its creators walking away with millions of pounds. Some claim to have lost their life savings as a result of the scam, which was made possible by the popularity of Squid Game. Several mainstream news organizations, including the BBC and Forbes, covered the cryptocurrency.
Also one video circulating social media shows one Twitch streamer losing all of his money as the cryptocurrency’s value plummeted to zero.
Scams are on the rise as cryptocurrencies become more popular, as cybercriminals look to take advantage of people looking to make a quick buck. Even tech experts and giants aren’t immune, as Facebook recently confirmed a Bitcoin scam account posing as Elon Musk.
