According to Superdry’s new research, Fortnite is the most popular video game in the world, and Twitch streamer Ninja is the most searched for, and a UK-based gamer Tommyinnit, is the most popular Twitch streamer in the UK, and Fortnite is the most popular game among Brits.
Superdry has analyzed Google data from 169 countries over the last 12 months to discover which games and gamers are the most popular. An estimated 3.24 billion global gamers and Twitch streamers earn millions by inviting the world to watch the stream and play.
Fortnite, a free battle royale game that is available on a variety of devices and was released in 2017, has taken the world by storm. The said data says that Fortnite is the most popular game in 106 countries. Minecraft, which involves building three-dimensional worlds out of blocks, comes in second place, with 51 countries searching for it, including Russia, Brazil, and South Korea.
Although Fortnite and Minecraft are clearly the most popular games in the world, Grand Theft Auto V, Genshin Impact, and Valorant are also in the top ten – though only in a few countries.
American Twitch streamer Ninja takes the top spot as the most popular worldwide, which isn’t surprising given the American gamer’s massive 17 million Twitch followers. Ninja is well-known for streaming Fortnite Battle Royale and has even played games with celebrities like Drake and Travis Scott, with 46 countries searching for him the most.
British Twitch streamer TommyInnit, is the 2021 world’s second most searched Twitch streamer, with 36 countries looking for him and his live streams. He holds Guinness World Records for having the most followed Minecraft channel on Twitch and the most viewers of a Minecraft live stream on Twitch, despite being only 17 years old.
Spanish Twitch streamer with 10.6 million followers, AuronPlay, is the third most Googled Twitch streamer. Unsurprisingly, it is the most popular in many Spanish-speaking countries, including Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.
Pokimane (most popular in 12 countries) and ‘Pqueen’ are the only two female streamers in the top ten (most popular in three countries). Pokimane, a Moroccan-Canadian streamer, and internet personality is best known for his League of Legends and Fortnite streams. Meanwhile, Turkish streamer Pqueen has 1.7 million followers and has been streaming for a long time.
