Apex Legends leaker Shrugtal recently discovered a potential Rampart buff in the battle royale’s game files, which, if implemented, would undoubtedly shake up the meta.
Rampart has struggled to make an impact on the battle royale meta since her introduction in Season 6 of Apex Legends.
Despite the strength and uniqueness of the Sheila turret and her Amped Cover barricades, the Amped Modder has always been on the periphery due to their naturally defensive nature. That trend has continued into Season 12, with her pick rate of only 1.5 percent, putting her in 20th place out of 20 legends.
If leaked game files come to fruition, she could be set for a major strengthening, following some Season 10 buffs.
Multiple buffs for Rampart are present in the game files, according to veteran leaker Shrugtal, but did not make it into the most recent update.
If the leaker’s information is accurate, the potential buff would benefit Rampart in almost every way, including a significant boost to her Amped Cover Tactical.
Some speculated that the April 1 posting date was a prank on Shrugtal’s part, but based on the shared game code, it appears to be in the games files and simply unreleased as of this article’s publication.
It’s unclear when – or if – Respawn plans to release the buff, but it would be a significant boost for one of the most reviled characters in the BR.
Season 13 is rumored to be coming out in early-to-mid May. Maybe it’s all an April Fool’s joke, and we’re the ones who are being played.
