Well-known Super Mario 64 speedrunner, GreenSuigi recently broke the 16-star world record for the second time.
GreenSuigi took on the challenge of breaking the 16 star world record in the popular speedrunning game Super Mario 64 during a recent Twitch livestream. He broke the record with a time of 14 minutes and 54 seconds, shaving one second off the previous time.
GreenSuigi, a Twitch streamer and speedrunner, was at it again, this time attempting to set a world record in the popular game Super Mario 64. He was streaming the speedrun on his Twitch channel when the record was broken. In 14 minutes and 54 seconds, he completed the game with 16 stars collected.
GreenSuigi also held the previous 16 star world record, which he achieved just a few days ago. The previous record, which stood at 14 minutes and 55 seconds, was only a second slower than the new one. GreenSuigi broke the previous record by one second, which had been held by another streamer for about three months before being broken by GreenSuigi.
While livestreaming, GreenSuigi finished his speedrun with a time of 14:54:09. However, it was later re-timed to 14:54:156, which remains the new 16 star world record for the game. With a recent tweet from his Twitter account, he clarified the situation.
When GreenSuigi finished his run, he couldn’t believe what he had just accomplished in just a few days and exclaimed, “What the fuck?”
Super Mario 64 has one of the most active speedrunning communities in the gaming world, with new records being set on a regular basis. On the website speedrunner.com, it is ranked third, behind Metroid Dread and Minecraft. Only pixel-perfect runs by experienced campaigners have a chance of breaking records on Super Mario 64.
GreenSuigi has broken the world record for 16 stars, which is only one of the game’s categories. Other categories in Super Mario 64 are based on how many stars you collect before beating the game, and each category has its own world record.
